Alanís, known by her loved ones as Ala, currently lives with her parents and brother. Her childhood was a time of happy moments and deep emotional challenges. As a child, she was raised by her grandparents, as her parents worked a lot and could not dedicate the time she needed. In addition, her father was depressed, which led him to attempt suicide. This situation caused her much pain and distorted for many years the image she had of her parents' love for her.
Amid her family crisis, Ala had an encounter with Jesus in which she felt God's love and understood that everything she was going through had a purpose. Thanks to her relationship with Jesus, she was eventually able to heal wounds and understand the true love of her parents. Later, her Christian commitment deepened as she became involved in Young Life. She has been an active leader in the ministry for three years. Being a Young Life leader has been a life changing experience for her because of her personal growth and the way she was able to see Jesus in the young people she works with.
Now as a Developing Global Leader, Alanis is studying to be a Special Education Teacher with an orientation in Intellectual Disability at the Institute of Higher Education. Her vision for the future is clear: to graduate and dedicate herself completely to ministry so that every young person in her community can know God's love.
