Martha

My name is Martha, and I was born in a small town into a Christian family as the only child. Growing up came with both blessings and challenges. While my parents raised me in faith, I faced many hardships because I belong to a lower caste in a society where casteism is still prevalent. Being an only child also carried unique responsibilities, which taught me how to handle difficult situations from a young age. Despite these struggles, I learned perseverance and developed a deep sense of compassion for others.

I met Jesus when I was 12 years old at church, but my personal relationship with Him grew stronger during my teenage years. Facing bullying and rejection because of my caste and insecurities made me question my identity. During that time, one of the Young Life volunteer leaders invited me to attend club. There, I experienced love, acceptance, and a renewed sense of belonging. Through Young Life, I found confidence and hope, realizing how deeply I am loved by God. After four years as a Campaigner student, I began volunteering as a Young Life leader. Today, I serve by leading games and talks at club, leading Campaigner groups, helping with worship in fellowships, volunteering at camps, and supporting fundraising events.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am pursuing a degree in psychology and social work. My goal is to become a psychiatrist and help young people overcome bullying, insecurities, and difficult life situations, just as Young Life helped me.
