Lucas Patricio

Lucas lives in the city of Temuco, in southern Chile. He shares his home with his parents, sister, and grandmother. His family background has been strongly marked by service: his parents are pastors and missionaries.

During his childhood, his family moved as missionaries to the Dominican Republic. The cultural change was one of the biggest challenges of his childhood. He faced teasing because of his physical appearance while trying to adapt socially to a new school and society. However, this period also forged his character and taught him to value friendship, faith, and resilience. He spent seven years with his family in this country; despite the difficulties, he remembers this time as an enriching time in his life.

It was precisely in the Dominican Republic where Lucas met Young Life and began participating in clubs and camps. When he returned to Chile to begin his university studies, he could not find an active club in Temuco. Far from being discouraged, he decided to get involved in its development. He is now working to become director of the local club, while reaching out to adults and recruiting new leaders.

Lucas is studying mechanical engineering at the Universidad de La Frontera. His ideal job would be in manufacturing or design. His vision for the future is to be able to serve God with his profession, offering his knowledge and being a financial supporter of Young Life.
