My name is Alejandra, and I live in the municipality of La Dalia, Matagalpa, Nicaragua with my mother, younger sister and nephew. As a child, I was a shy person of few words. My parents often argued, and my older sister and I witnessed deception of my father until my parents divorced. Eventually my sister moved out on her own and my mother was absent as she tried to put her life back together, leaving me seemingly alone. Despite all that, I did not deviate from my path, but I felt sad and very angry about what was happening to me.

In high school, I was invited by a friend to go to Young Life club. I was not very eager to participate but went so as not to refuse the invitation. After my first encounter with Jesus at Young Life camp, I felt loved by Jesus and wanted to stay in a ministry that would help me to have a relationship with Jesus and help others to know Him. As I faced my struggles with the help of God, I was able to move forward and heal. Now I am a very communicative person, I have a better relationship with my family, and we continue to support each other.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am attending National Autonomous University of Nicaragua. I want to study law so I can help others through my knowledge, gifts and service and be a useful and responsible person committed to impacting my community. In ministry, my goal is to grow personally and thus be able to provide my knowledge and experiences to others as an example to follow to help many leaders grow in their faith and be a light to teens in my community.
