Martha Lupita

Lupita lives in a modest home with her mother and father and four siblings in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Her childhood was peaceful, but she faced social challenges during her teens when starting school after being educated at home. This made it difficult for her to connect with classmates, leading to ridicule and isolation. For a few years, she struggled with low self-esteem and avoided socializing, even during family activities.

She knew about Jesus growing up, thanks to her mother, a devout servant of God. Her deeper interest began in her adolescence, through confirmation classes and participation in church. At sixteen, encouraged by her sister, she attended a first-timers camp with Young Life. "Thanks to this experience, I formed a closer relationship with Jesus and was able to learn about Him while growing in my faith." The trust she built with her mother and sister helped her change the negative aspects of her life and begin her journey with Jesus.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Lupita’s vision is to earn a degree in systems engineering at National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, mastering technical knowledge while developing leadership and interpersonal skills. She aims to be a versatile leader who can solve complex problems and positively impact her community. "I want to be someone who can apply my knowledge to make a real difference." Her goals as a DGL include leading a Young Life club in a new area, continuing her mentoring work with teens, and coordinating camp activities. Lupita hopes to provide others with the support and tools they need to grow in their faith, just as she has been able to grow in hers.
