Sharon Yurelsy

My name is Sharon, and I live with my mother and my brother in Catarina, Nicaragua. When I was young, I had problems with my father, when he left home a resentment was created in my heart.

I learned about Jesus when I was very young, but I didn't have a relationship with him until I attended a camp for newcomers and learned more about Jesus early in high school. I have learned to put everything in the hands of God and depend on him at all times including the journey of forgiving my father. As a Young Life leader, my vision is to take the gospel to more neighborhoods and communities within Catarina; I long to bring the good news of salvation to every corner of the municipalities.

A recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying civil engineering at the National University of Engineering. I am dedicated to my studies striving to achieve excellence while maintaining an attitude of humility and gratitude. I place my hope and faith in God for every step I take in ministry, knowing He is there with me, so that I may reflect the love of Christ through community service and helping those in need.
