Roberto Elmir

My name is Elmir, and I live in Siuna, a city located in the mining triangle on the northern coast of Nicaragua. I live with my parents, siblings, uncle, and grandparents in my grandparents' house. As a child, one of my biggest fears was that my parents would get divorced, as I overheard them talking about it. This made me a very insecure person and although I attended church, I got into a lot of trouble. My lack of trust in my family prevented me from asking for help or talking about my feelings with them or anyone else. This led me to an antisocial, somewhat superficial life.

Although I had always heard about Jesus, I never knew Him personally until one day, through an invitation from a friend to a Young Life camp my faith story began. Before that, my friend shared to me that Jesus had changed her, and that sparked in me a deep desire to experience that same change. At camp, I could feel Jesus' love in a real and profound way. I understood that He was not just a distant figure, but a person who loved me regardless of my past. Seeing how Jesus' love transformed lives made me want to experience that transformation in my own heart. From that moment on, my life began to take a new direction: to share the same love with others.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying computer systems engineering at University of the Autonomous Regions of the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast. My educational vision is to develop both professionally and ethically and become an excellent professional, capable of supporting the technological development of my city by driving projects related to my field. Additionally, I want to be the provider for my family. Regarding my leadership, I want to continue growing and learning. My greatest desire is to be a good leader, sharing Jesus' love with young people and helping them discover their purpose in Him.
