Milena Jahoska

My name is Milena, and I live in Managua, Nicaragua with my family. My family circle, made up of my mother, father, brother, grandmother and my uncle accompany and support me in everything I do. As a girl, my parents worked hard to give us everything we needed, however we were not close. I lacked trust and security in our relationship, which added to my shyness, low self-esteem and insecurity, ultimately leading me to isolate myself, believing that being alone was best.

I grew up hearing about Jesus, but I didn't feel his love or a connection with him. When I went to Young Life camp, I was able to learn more about the love of Jesus, feeling his presence and realizing that he is always with me in every step of my life. I have learned that he is working in both the difficulties and the joys, giving my life purpose in everything I do.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I hope to complete my degree in marketing and advertising at National Autonomous University of Nicaragua and thus be able to support my family and the people around me, allowing me to not only be successful but also to have a positive impact. I want to be a leader who inspires and provides support by demonstrating that Jesus can transform our lives and the lives of the people we put into his hands. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university.
