Hovhannes

My name is Hovhannes and I live in the capital city of Armenia, Yerevan, with my parents and brother. My childhood was a very joyful and active period of my life, despite the financial difficulties we faced.

I always believed that there was no such thing as “true love”. However, one summer I went to a Young Life camp, where I saw the opposite, I encountered selfless love with my own eyes. That was the first time I heard that God loved me, and it was an incredible feeling that I had never had before. I was so impressed that I gave my life to Jesus. After that, because of financial difficulties, I was forced to go to work in eastern Europe, where I lived for two years. It was a difficult time, because I had nothing but work. But even then, God was always there to remind me of Himself, so I trusted Him. And now, back in my hometown, I belong to Jesus and want to do His work, reaching young people who do not know Him. Despite the constant financial shortages in Armenia, I have refused all kinds of jobs because the work schedule is too demanding and interferes with my call to ministry.

As a Developing Global Leader, I study at the Yerevan State Theater and Film Institute, majoring in film direction. I'll be the first person in my family to get a university degree. In the DGL program, my goal is to learn, become more involved in ministry, and apply the knowledge and experience I gain in school to my ministry, including creating performances for camps and clubs using my skills and God-given imagination.
