My name is Yara, and I live in the Jordan River region with my parents, brothers, and grandmother. I always felt nurtured and cherished as a child. The only true struggle was when my parents’ financial problems forced me to change schools frequently. With God’s grace, I adjusted and developed strong character and resilience.
My greatest strength is my ability to empathize and connect with others, which I believe is deeply rooted in my upbringing and Christian faith. Although I grew up in a Christian home, I did not begin my relationship with Jesus until I was invited into Young Life in high school. It was a pivotal time when I was searching for meaning and purpose. At club, I experienced the love of Christ personally through the community, teachings, and activities. The genuine care and support I received from Young Life leaders and peers helped me to understand Jesus' love and grace more deeply. I was welcomed into community where I could explore my faith in a supportive environment. Young Life became instrumental in helping me grow spiritually and I now serve as a leader and know the Lord has a plan for my discipleship.
As a Developing Global Leader, I am pursuing a design and visual communication degree at a local university, focusing on glorifying God through creativity. I believe in using design to convey messages of truth, hope, and inspiration. My goal is to integrate Christian values into my work and lead by example, demonstrating humility and a commitment to honoring God in all endeavors.
