My name is Abraham, and I live in Monrovia, Liberia. As a child, my parents separated, and both decided they couldn't provide for me. My grandaunt graciously took me into her home. All of my early memories are filled with laughter and playing and feeling much happiness and joy. However, my life took a turn when my father passed away. It was decided that I should live with my mother as she was now in a better place to care for me. Despite being a busy businesswoman, she made sure I attended school and church. Those years were difficult for me as I struggled to deal with many of my emotions.
In high school, although I regularly attended church, it wasn't until someone asked me if I wanted a relationship with Jesus that I realized something was missing in my life. Walking with Jesus, my heart began to change through prayer and scripture. I was invited to attend a Young Life club, and as soon as I stepped inside, I felt like I had always belonged, and I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of giving others the same experience. I now serve as a team leader.
As a Developing Global Leader, I attend African Methodist Episcopal University in Monrovia, where I study environmental science. My hope for my education is to improve my life and the lives of others by helping my country reduce pollution. I want to be a leading environmental advocate to protect our water supply and better our atmosphere. Even more so, I want to be a person who loves others and points them to Christ.
