Yeabsra

My name is Yeabsira, but you can call me Yab. I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and I grew up there with my two younger brothers; I am the first child of my family. My mother is a very talented and strong woman who always supports me, advises me and is a lady of prayer. My father is my beloved father who supports us in many ways and encourages us. My upbringing was characterized by care, love, fun and respect.

I grew up in a Christian family, and as a little kid, my parents often took me to Sunday school and when they thought I was of age, they began introducing me to believing in Jesus and I began serving in church. Despite my Christian background, the death of my younger sibling was a great difficulty for me. I was so excited to have a baby sister but tragically, the baby died before birth. The invitation to Young Life from my church friends ushered me into a supportive and encouraging community of friends and family and my spiritual life has been growing ever since. I now serve as a team leader and am passionate about spreading the Gospel widely among my community.

As a Developing Global Leader, I have the opportunity to further pursue my education and become the first in my family to earn a university degree. I am studying business marketing at Unity University. My greatest strengths are responsibility and dedication and I hope to further grow my leadership skills and some day start a business of my own and help support my family and community.
