My name is Anna and I live in Yerevan, Armenia with my mother, grandmother, and brother. Prior to my parents’ divorce, as a young girl I watched my mother work hard and often to provide for us, and it seemed as if my father did not help at all. He passed away some years later when I was sixteen and soon after I started working to support the family. I was proud to provide for myself and make my mother proud as well, but I also felt many empty places in my soul.
My family attended church when I was young, and my sweetest memories are from those years. However, by the time I became aware of my emptiness, my family had stopped going to church. As a teenager I met a Young Life leader and was invited to camp where I decided to no longer live a useless life, and I dedicated my life to Jesus. I understood that the only real helper and healer is Jesus. He healed my heart, which had become cold due to difficulties in my life, and He filled it with His joy.
I am currently studying at Yerevan State University, majoring in media studies. I want to be an expert in this field and continue my work as a human resources specialist. I want to communicate with people and foster healthy relationships between employers and job seekers as much as I can. Now serving as a Young Life leader, I am involved in a small group ministry and a volleyball ministry, but I believe that the Lord has a bigger and greater plan for me that will be realized through the Developing Global Leaders program. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
