My name was changed for security reasons, but call me Elizabeth. I live with my parents and siblings in the countryside in Central Asia. However, I grew up with my grandmother because my parents were working in another country, and my siblings lived with other relatives to make it easier. My relatives always taught me to be humble and encouraged me to be quiet and not to talk too much. Unfortunately, at school, because of my quiet nature, I faced bullying, and children often treated me cruelly. Thankfully, I had a friend who protected me. This friend also brought me to Young Life, where I was amazed by the atmosphere of acceptance and love. I felt that the people around me were truly alive.

I joined the Young Life team and the word study, and one day I was so touched by a missionary's testimony that I came to God in repentance, even though my entire family is Muslim. I asked to be accepted and wanted to follow Jesus. It was the happiest day of my life, I felt indescribable peace. Meeting Jesus brought many changes in my life; I understood and forgave my parents, I became more confident, and I began to express my feelings and emotions freely.

While participating in the Developing Global Leaders program, my goal is to reflect God's great love and grace and continue to grow as a Young Life leader in my community. I am studying at a local university to become an English philologist. The teaching profession is very promising for a woman in my country. I hope to become a competent and engaging teacher for the future generation; I believe education is important for everyone.
