I grew up in Stuttgart, Germany, in an apartment that was always lively. With five siblings and a home open for foster kids to seek refuge, a routine was both welcome and necessary. We were expected to attend church and keep our grades up. My parents didn't have financial means, but they did have love and work ethic. Due to limited resources, I started working at a young age to help my family. While it made me more independent, I also wished for more attention from my well-meaning parents. Overall, I had a blessed childhood, protected by God and filled with love.
I followed the traditional path of attending church and youth groups. Looking back, my relationship with Jesus was very much one of rule-following. In response, after graduating high school, I went through a phase in which I consciously excluded Him from my life. Through seasons of failure and loneliness, it became overwhelmingly apparent to me that I needed Jesus. He met me at the lowest, most isolated time in my life. I felt much like the prodigal son. As he began to change my life and transform my heart, I returned to school in Munich. Shortly afterward, I was introduced to Young Life. Since then, I have served and have grown in discipleship.
As a DGL student, my future vision is simple: I want to change the world. It's much less about the whole world but rather about the world in which I am placed by God. My current professional plan is to earn a law degree and advocate for the less fortunate. As a Christian, I want to become a man young people can turn to so I can direct their eyes towards Jesus.
