My name is Miriam, and I live in Oslo, Norway, with three of my friends from church. I grew up with parents and siblings who love Jesus and have always taught me to follow Him. As a child, I was bullied by my classmates; it was a hard time for me and I struggled a lot with destructive thoughts. Navigating social situations was difficult so I sought comfort in prayer and reading the Word. Ultimately, I was able to befriend the bullies through kindness and grace. This life lesson proved valuable as I entered my high school years in boarding school and was learning how to cope independently from my family.

I am thankful that I have always known Jesus. My parents taught me to pray and provided a solid Christian education. After high school, I attended a Bible school. Here, I realized that being a Christian was about totally trusting Jesus. I began to seek a closer relationship with Him and sought opportunities to give back. Seeking a Christian community that is service-oriented has been pivotal. As a Young Life leader, I have taken my childhood experiences and the spiritual growth of my teenage years and poured them into youth in our area. I am humbled and feel blessed to have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with those around me.

As a Developing Global Leader, I attend OsloMet and plan to earn a degree in education. My goal is to be a primary school teacher. Both of my parents are educators, and I have witnessed the enormous impact they’ve had on their students. My vision is to become a teacher who invests in my pupils and shows them the love of Jesus.
