Mandukhai

Mandukhai lives in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia with her family. Growing up, her childhood was happy until her mother tragically passed away during middle school. The loss of her mother shattered her world. Her once happy family of four turned into a grieving family of three and the former joy-filled, carefree daughter was now bereft. In her grief, Mandukhai turned inward and became “shy and quiet, not wanting to share her problems with anyone.” She isolated herself and compartmentalized her feelings.

Although her early teenage years were a struggle, her life began to change when she gave a quiet “yes” to an invitation to Young Life. There, she heard the Gospel and knew she needed a relationship with Jesus. Slowly, Mandukhai “recovered little by little and learned to love herself more and she found a reason to continue living.” Currently, Mandukhai serves as a Young Life leader and on the worship team at her church. She feels confident the “Lord is preparing her for many things in the future as He makes her more open and capable through His words and His people.” Her relationship with her Heavenly Father proves to continue to be a solace for the loss of her mother.

As a Developing Global Leader, Mandukhai will attend the National University in Mongolia and study media and communications. Her goal is to become a journalist and tell the stories of her people. After feeling lost and without a voice for so many years, Mandukhai knows the power of the spoken and written word and hopes to proclaim God's word boldly in ministry and professionally.
