My name is Roy and I live in a small town in North Africa. My parents serve as pastors in a local church here. My parents immigrated from Russia when they were very young. Being immigrants and living in a different country prompted us to live a very quiet life; consequentially, the internet became my source of solace. However, being exposed to the internet from a very young age led me to form unhealthy habits. As I reflect, I remember that my pre-teen life was full of isolation, and I am struck by how that isolated lifestyle compounded my struggles with anxiety.
My life took a turn when I was thirteen years of age. I was diagnosed with an illness that impacted my health greatly. I grew closer to God, seeking him to heal me from the illness and free me from my anxiety. During this time, I was introduced to Young Life by one of my friends. After attending Young Life club and camps, I gave my life to Christ and started helping others in Young Life. In time, the Lord healed me from my illness and freed me from my anxiety. I grew tremendously in my walk with him, and I now serve teenagers in my community knowing that they can also be free from their struggles.
My love for computers led me to pursue a course in engineering and computer science. I hope to become a certified network defender after completing my studies at a local university. As a Developing Global Leader, I hope to impact the world with my skills as I continue to spread the love of Christ to teenagers. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
