Merie May

I'm Merie May and I'm from Toboso in the Philippines. I live with my father and cousin. I have two sisters and my father and mother are separated. Their separation really affected me. My father’s sister, who is my aunt, introduced me to Young Life and became like my mother. She supported us physically and emotionally, but we still struggled financially. It encourages me to study harder and aim for a better life.

I have been attending church ever since I was young. My personal relationship with Jesus started when I was in tenth grade. I got baptized and attended Sunday School for teens, where we were taught to pray and study the Bible. I first heard about Young Life camp in our community from my aunt. She encouraged me to participate, and I met my leader there.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I hope to thrive in college as I study finance management at State University of Northern Negros. I want to make a positive impact on society, achieve my dream job, and serve people with dignity. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university.
