Partina

My name is Partina. I am the eldest of five children and I live in northern Liberia. Historically, our region has suffered from conflict, economic shocks, and health crises. Such circumstances led to much strife and discord among families. My parents had me when they were still teenagers, and raising a child proved to be too much for them. As a result, my grandmother and my uncle raised me for nine years. The burden of education, food, and shelter was difficult for them to bear. The household was toxic. I struggled because I felt unloved and insignificant. As a result, I grew up with a bitter heart and often cried.

Gratefully, my circumstances changed when I was able to move to Monrovia to reunite with my parents. God’s timing was perfect, and I was soon introduced to my Heavenly Father. I never knew that there was a God until the gospel was shared with me at church. Then and there, I realized I wanted and needed a relationship with my Creator. After accepting the gift of Jesus, I became a new person. Today, life has meaning and hope. Currently, I serve in both my church and my local Young Life organization.

As a Developing Global Leader, I plan to obtain a nursing degree from Carver Christian University and then pursue further education to become a pediatrician. During my childhood, I saw how important it is for children to receive care and feel loved. It's my hope that I can provide that for others. I want to consistently make a positive impact in my community and continue spreading the message of the gospel.
