My name is Frank. My childhood holds a significant place in my heart. I was born in Bong County, Liberia, during a time when our country was facing war, making life difficult for my family. My father left us to be a fighter, leaving my mother as the sole caregiver. As a baby, my mother noticed that my left hand wasn't functioning properly, but we couldn't afford medical help. My father rejected me because of my condition, claiming that he couldn't be a father to a disabled child. My mother had no choice but to seek help from a traditional healer, where I stayed until I was five and eventually became well.
Afterward, we moved to Monrovia to live with my grandfather, who provided financial and emotional support. It was my first experience of fatherly love. It wasn’t until later that the ultimate fatherly relationship was filled when I met Jesus. The very day I accepted him as my Lord, I was baptized. This decision brought a sense of freedom in mind, body, and spirit, guiding me on the path of Christianity. Gratefully, my faith was strengthened when I connected with Young Life through a friend who invited me to club. I felt incredibly welcomed by the kids and leaders. I experienced a sense of belonging and community. I knew then I wanted to become a part of Young Life.
As a Developing Global Leader, I plan to attend Starz University and become a leading information technology specialist. I aim to be the first in my family to graduate from university. I also hope to provide leadership opportunities for my colleagues, ensuring that we all benefit from shared experiences and growth as a team.
