Flavier

Flavier is from a town called Bujumbura, the largest city in Burundi, which is considered one of the world’s poorest countries. Historically, there has been significant civil unrest and violence throughout the country. Flavier experienced a hostile environment within his own family as well. As one of thirteen children in a broken home, family tension, escalating abuse, and scarce finances created much sorrow.

Flavier grew up in church and found peace in prayer but didn't feel like he had a personal connection with Jesus until his friend started walking alongside him. Through their friendship, discussions about the Bible, and consistent encouragement, Flavier began his journey with the Lord. He now serves as a youth leader in his church and as a club leader in the local Young Life organization. He shares, “With the opportunity to know Christ, he gave me peace and wiped away my tears; he is the reason I have become who I am today.”

Flavier is determined to improve himself and his community. As a Developing Global Leader, his goal is to obtain a degree in information technology from Summit Institution University. Upon graduation, he will be the first in his family to earn a college degree and envisions using his degree and his faith to positively impact many lives.
