Marcel

My name is Marcel and I live with my family in an apartment outside our capital city in South Asia. My childhood was a blessing, although my parents earned very little, the Lord kept us well. We never had any severe ailment or never fell into debt. I was raised in a Christian home, and my parents did their best to put me into a good school and provide a decent education. As a teenager, I struggled secretly with lustful addictions and was consumed by shame. By His mercies, my relationship with the Lord proved to be my saving grace.

Growing up, the name of Jesus was familiar. My parents taught us about the Bible, and while I always knew he was important to them, I did not know him personally until my late teen years. During that time, despite my good image amongst family, church, and community, I was secretly battling my sinful nature. A catalyst for change was a conference in which I first encountered the Holy Spirit. He convicted me to separate myself from my sin and to step into a life of greater joy and purpose. Since then, I have been blessed to serve in our church choir and our local Young Life.

As a Developing Global Leader, I will be the first college graduate in my family when I earn a degree in computer science and engineering at a local university. This field has interested me since childhood, as I have always been passionate about technology. I also know it can be a tool for ministry as I can reach far more people with this skill set. If the Lord allows, I would love to join a company to provide for my family and serve others. Ultimately, I know I am called to be a servant of God’s Word and lead others to a relationship with Jesus.
