My name is Khulan, and I am from the capital city Ulaanbaatar, of Mongolia. I come from a loving and caring family. Growing up, I have always had what I needed. We didn’t go hungry, but I was spiritually hungry. Because our family did not have too many financial struggles, I was considered an outsider. I was ostracized and many of my friends only wanted to be friends with me because of my family’s financial status. I was not treated the same way as other students because of this.
As a kid, I was very insecure and struggled greatly with negative body image issues. I had trouble revealing how I looked to others. I preferred to wear a mask around people because I was shy about my appearance. But since I started following Jesus, my perspective dramatically changed. I know I am fully loved and because of this, my confidence rose, and I felt special in the Lord. God has really done miracles in my life and made me feel his greatest love. One of the miracles I’ve witnessed is when I hurt my arm and needed healing. My Young Life Campaigners group prayed diligently for me, and my arm healed. Since then, I’ve experienced the love of that community and decided to stay and learn about God.
Through becoming a Developing Global Leaders student, I am studying law at a local university. I hope to use this degree to improve international communications. I want to keep growing with the Lord and be able to introduce more people to God through my studies and work. I hope to share my story with people who have had similar struggles to me and encourage them to feel God’s love.
