Rahul

Rahul terms his life as nothing but full of hardships and challenges. “I would say, my hardships began way before I was born since I was an unexpected child. I have two elder siblings that my parents struggled to raise, hence the decision to not want another child,” he states. Rahul comes from a middle-class family in South Asia where financial challenges have always been the biggest issue in living a normal life.

Coming from this kind of family dynamic meant joining efforts to make sure that all needs were met. Rahul started taking care of their household duties at a very young age to ease the burden on his parents. "Unfortunately, in the pursuit of our basic needs, my parents could not be present to guide us, and this prompted my brother to choose an irresponsible life and he ended up in prison,” laments Rahul. Despite this occurrence, Rahul kept the faith that one day things would get better. It was during this time that Rahul developed a desire to know Jesus. He shares, "When I was surrounded by all these problems, I started reading the word of God and praying alone. God's love changed my life. I also came to know about Young Life through a friend and gave my life to Christ, eventually becoming a Young Life leader.”

Now a Developing Global Leader, Rahul is currently pursuing a degree in engineering and computer science at a local university. His greatest desire to change the financial position of his family is expressed when he shares, “I hope to bring change in my family and be a testimony among my peers.”
