My name is Suad, and I live in Mali, a country in west Africa, in a predominantly Muslim town. I was raised as a practitioner of the Muslim faith by my family who, even today, remain faithful to the precepts of their religion. When I made the conversion to Christianity, it proved to be a life-altering experience on many levels. My family rejected me because they were in opposition to Christianity. I was left with no means of housing, food, or education. God’s goodness provided me with adoptive parents in Christ. Their love and faithfulness to my growth have been a great source of strength.

Growing up in a Muslim household, I had very few opportunities to learn about the Christian faith. Fortunately, my biological brother, who had already embraced Christianity, introduced me to Jesus. We faced many challenges together, as our culture frowned upon conversion. The love and support I received from other Christians have shaped me into the person I am in Christ today. I am fortunate to serve as the area director for our local Young Life ministry.

As a Developing Global Leader, I plan to attend a local university to earn a degree in project management. My vision is to use the knowledge I acquire to improve my community and further the mission of Young Life. As area director, I feel a responsibility to steward all of the resources in our area to the best of my ability. I want to ensure that I guide and lead the next generation of leaders with excellence, all for the glory of God.
