My name is Vladyslav, and I come from central Ukraine, where I live with my mom, stepfather and grandfather. When I was born, my airflow was obstructed, and I was not breathing. Because of this, I have cerebral palsy, but it's not a problem for me. I feel like a complete person, although there are certain difficulties. My father caused me a lot of emotional pain, because I spent my childhood watching him drink followed by my parents' divorce. But we overcame these difficulties.
I always knew that God exists because my mother is a believer, but I didn't know Him personally. When I was thirteen, I received a camera as a gift, and was invited to photograph a Capernaum club. I started attending clubs all the time and went to Young Life camp. It was there that I felt God's presence, it was an unforgettable moment. I became a true follower of Jesus, and I started attending church with my friends and joined the Young Life Capernaum team where I serve now.
I have always been interested in programming and websites and even won a “hackathon” competition. Now as a Developing Global Leader, I am studying computer engineering and programming at a local university. I am earning a degree in something I love, and I have the chance to grow as a person and expand my boundaries. My diploma will provide me with a good job, enabling me to take care of myself and my family. Through DGL, I have the chance to serve teenagers with disabilities and hope to further develop my ministry skills. There is a growing need for Capernaum ministry because of the war and I am anxious to be used by God to meet this need.
