Nelson

Nelson is from Chimoio, Mozambique, one of the poorest, most underdeveloped countries in the world. Although Nelson would describe his childhood as normal, it was not without confusion or heartache. His parents were absent as alcohol and other issues caused them to abandon their six children. At a young age, Nelson found himself shouldering many of the family’s responsibilities. Through the struggles, he knew change was necessary to improve his family’s circumstances.

Nelson's transformation came through simple invitations to a Young Life club, to a Bible study, and to a week at camp. Everything started to make sense to Nelson and his decision to follow Christ changed Nelson’s life forever. Currently, Nelson serves as both a worship and youth leader at his church. He also plays an active role in the local Young Life ministry.

As a Developing Global Leader, Nelson aims to be the first in his family to graduate from university. He will attend the University of Zambeze, where he will pursue a degree in agricultural engineering. His goal is to contribute to his family’s well-being and set a positive example for others.
