My name is Lavie, I live with my parents and my sisters in Ivory Coast, precisely in Grand Bassam. Born into a Christian family, my relationship with Jesus began at a young age. Despite the challenges and my mother’s declining chronic illness, my family has always been a welcoming and supportive refuge for me. My encounter with Jesus improved little by little, thanks to the stimulating environment in which I grew up. Growing up in a home filled with love and spirituality has profoundly shaped who I am today.
I participated in the local Young Life club thanks to the invitation of my big sister who is a leader. Having understood the goal of the ministry, I decided to join and the following year I participated on work crew at camp. From there, I loved everything about Young Life; the love and joy Young Life gives to young people is difficult to see nor find elsewhere. Now I serve as a team leader in my club. This year I helped organize a camp in my area as well.
Now, thanks to the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I plan to study biology at INFAS in Abidjan. This is my passion. I want to become a great biologist or doctor to help sick people in need and give them hope by sharing the gospel with them and helping in every way possible. I want to be a role model for the future generation by sharing my story and testifying about Jesus. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
