Chizoba

My name is Chizoba and I live with my parents and my sibling in Abia, Nigeria. I used to be very timid and shy, which made the struggle of coming from a humble home even more overwhelming. However, I was brought up with love and my parents didn’t let the difficult circumstances of life make them harsh in bringing us up. But there was a large void in my life because I didn’t have my basic needs met as a kid; this greatly affected my self-esteem. While going through life, I just knew that all I could do was serve God diligently and give my all in worshipping him. I met Jesus when I was eighteen while attending a church service with one of my neighbors. The pastor preached a sermon about the generosity of God’s love that greatly touched my heart. I used to think God was partial because of how difficult it was for my parents to make ends meet, but my heart and mind softened, and I made the bold step so say yes to Jesus. A mentor and youth leader in my church invited me to Young life club. When I attended my first club, I marveled at the reception. I knew then and there that I wanted to be a part of this mission. Now a Developing Global Leader, I hope to graduate with a teaching degree from Havard Wilson College of Education, and gain a teaching job in a prominent school, where I can also have access to do Young Life ministry. I want to pour into my students and build great leaders. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
