My name is Patrick. My friends call me Junior. I live in Lilongwe, Malawi with my little brother and mother. As a family of three, we have had many challenges. My father passed away when I was 16 years old, leaving me to take on the role of father figure. My mother does not have a job, so we do not have enough income for food or to pay for school for myself or my brother.
I met Jesus when I was in secondary school. After my father passed away, a man named Harry Nanthambwe, who was my Young Life leader and is now my mentor, introduced me to Christ and showed me how to walk with Him. I had no hope and needed Him as my Father. I am now a Young Life team leader, and I train new leaders, lead campaigners and help with club.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, God has changed my life. I am able to go to school and study education at the Malawi Assemblies of God University. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university. My ideal job after graduation would be as an early childhood development practitioner. I want to open a kindergarten and grow it so big that we can accommodate those who do not have the money to send their children to school. My vision is to minister to kids at a young age so they can experience God as early as possible and pass their faith on to further generations.
