My name is Louisa, and I live with my family in Ghana. Growing up as kids, we lived as a happy family until our dad passed on. Things became hard for us because it was only our mother who was there to take care of us. My brothers even had to make the sacrifice and drop out of school in order for myself and my sister to continue school because our mother alone could not afford to pay for all of us.
I was introduced to Young Life by a pastor who invited me to Young Life club. My first highlight of the club was the incredible spirit of friendship. When I went to the camp, the message touched me so much and I learned that if I put my trust in Jesus, I will not be alone in all my struggles and worries. I said yes to Christ and started building a personal relationship with the Lord and now am a leader in my community.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am grateful to be a student at Central University studying nursing. I believe that by the special grace of God, I will be able to help people who are struggling with medical conditions and other health problems, and to educate them on how to take good care of themselves in their home or even in their communities. I will be the first graduate in my family.
