My name is Happymore, and I grew up in Macheke, Zimbabwe as the eldest of six children. Life was challenging and my parents struggled to provide for us in our rural home. Despite their hard work, affording school was a significant hurdle, so I took on various tasks to help support my education. The long hours of labor and the sacrifices I made were tough, but they drove me to complete school.
Everything changed when I encountered Jesus. At seventeen years old, during a youth gathering, a preacher's message about God's love deeply touched me. For the first time, I truly felt the goodness of God, and I fell in love with Jesus. This new relationship gave me a renewed sense of purpose. My journey with faith was further enriched when I was introduced a few years later to Young Life by the area director. The compassion and care of Young Life leaders resonated with me, and I felt called to be a part of their mission. Young Life provided me with a sense of belonging and a community to grow in my faith.
Looking ahead, I aspire to pursue a university degree in scientific research, with a focus on biology, chemistry, or public health at the University of Zimbabwe. My goal is to become a research scientist. I hope to work in a leading research institution where I can mentor young scientists and establish a foundation to support Young Life programs. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
