Ana Carolina

Ana lives in Cuenca, a city in the Andean mountains of southern Ecuador. She was born in Colombia, but because her father is Ecuadorian, her family decided to raise her in Ecuador. She grew up in a home full of love and faith, as her parents are pastors, and from an early age she met God and developed a relationship with Him. As a child she enjoyed learning and going to school, but as the years went by her enthusiasm faded because she suffered from bullying. Because of this, she missed a year of school. Her family moved her to a different school. Ana reflects, “I became a great student. I was class president, I participated in different poetry, soccer and arts contests and I graduated with one of the best averages in the class.”

Ana was introduced to Young Life while at college. She was living away from her family and friends to attend college and her loneliness had affected her relationship with God. But her faith was renewed when she was invited to attend Young Life camp. “At camp I was able to say yes to resume my relationship with Jesus and start walking with Him afresh.” Since then, Ana has been involved with Young Life College on her campus.

As a Developing Global Leader, she is studying media and communications at Cuenca University. She dreams of working in an organization where she can create projects that help children, youth and women in vulnerable situations, allowing their stories to be told. Her goals include continuing to grow YL College ministry, reaching out to other students, and serving in the area of communications.
