My name is Ronier. I live in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, with my mother, father, two brothers and sister. I did not lack anything as a child. My grandfather took care of me and taught me how to work and believe in God. However, he had to leave, and this hurt my belief in God. I wondered why God would not help me at that moment. I went down a bad path for five years after he left. Then, my music teacher invited me to Young Life. At Young Life camp, I was encouraged to accept God back into my life.
I grew up knowing that there was a God who loved me. However, what I did not know and learned is that I am worthy of His Love. After becoming involved with Young Life, I was able to find a personal relationship with Jesus. I became involved as a leader, playing the Peruvian box for music, helping with Bible studies and camp. I am now an Area Director in charge of three clubs, one in my city and two in other communities.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying clinical psychology at the Padre Gaspar Garcia Laviana National University in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. My dream job is to help in the mental health area, serving my community as a clinical psychologist. I want to provide conflict resolution and help people suffering from mental health conditions. I would also like to continue serving young people. While finishing my degree, another goal I have is to learn the English language so that I can be an instrument for Jesus and reach young people in different places. My vision is for every young person to know about Jesus and His Love for them.
