My name is Rajesh. I live in South Asia and I had a difficult childhood. I was born into a Buddhist and Hindu family, and I was very sick when I was young. My father did not live with us, and my mother struggled to feed and take care of me. We went to the hospital many times because my health was not good. My grandparents stepped in to help us when I was a teenager. They introduced and encouraged me toward a faith in Christ. They helped me see God working in our suffering.
My grandfather told me about Jesus Christ and discipled and shaped who I am today. I learned that being a Christian is not about doing good works. I do not have to earn my salvation or His love. He has given me fulfillment, purpose and joy and loves me despite my flaws and imperfections. I have also grown in my faith at church. I participate in the choir and as a drummer. I became involved with Young Life after my pastor told me about it. I am now a Young Life club leader
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders Scholarship, I am attending university and studying business and economics, specifically commerce, in South Asia. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college. When I graduate, I would like to become a CEO of a bank. My hope is that my degree will change my life, my financial problems and grow me spiritually. I also want to use my degree as I continue in ministry and sharing the Gospel.
