James

My name is James and I live in a city in South Asia with my mom and dad. My parents were not educated so they rely on labor work to provide for our family. My mother worked in the school I attended so that my fees would be deducted from her monthly salary. As a child, my challenge was to be an obedient, disciplined and honest son and student. The economic status of my family was the main challenge throughout my childhood, which always pushed me to work hard in my studies. Even though I grew up in a Christian family, I got to know Jesus deeply at age sixteen. While growing up, I started to involve myself in various seminars in different churches to know God more deeply. One of the seminars which was held in our church compelled me to accept God as my Savior. I started to read the Bible and control myself to not to do the wrong things I did prior to following God. I got connected to Young Life through a friend who brought me to a volunteer training for Young Life. Young Life has really helped me grow in my spiritual life. Now a Developing Global Leader, I am currently studying zoology at a local university, but ultimately want to study medicine and go to unreached parts of my country where health facilities haven’t reached. I hope to do ministry alongside my studies and future work; sharing the gospel in far reaching places is my ultimate goal. While in the DGL program, I hope to grow as a leader and have my own Campaigners group and tell everyone about our God's love.
