My name is Christo. My friends call me Kittu. I live alone in a large city in South Asia, where I go to school. I grew up with my parents and sister in a small town in South Asia. We did not have much. My dad was a teacher. When I was in ninth grade, he had a sudden heart attack while teaching my class and died right in front of me. This was a shock that I still struggle with. Life without my dad has been difficult, but my trust in God has grown. After he died, more responsibility was placed on me as the man of the house, and I could only take this on by God’s grace.
I grew up with Christian parents who loved the Lord deeply and encouraged me to keep growing in Christ. However, I met Jesus in a closer way when He healed me from severe pneumonia and after my dad passed away. I found the love of a father in Christ. I heard about Young Life from my mother. She is a prayer partner for Young Life and introduced me to the leaders once I moved to the city for school. I am now a leader, as well, and I help with club and other activities.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying engineering and computer science. I chose this field of study because I am interested in computers and want to be effective in the field of technology. My hope for my education is to glorify God through it, to impact the life of my friends and to find a good job that will help me and my mission work.
