My name is Walter, and my friends call me Aadi. I was born and raised in a large city in South Asia. Most of my childhood was spent moving with my family to and from different colonies and schools, one of which included a leprosy colony. Moving from place to place was difficult at first, but got easier each time as I became familiar with starting over and grew in confidence. God gave me opportunities to meet new people, and He has sharpened me through it.

I have been going to church since I was a small child. I love attending church service on Sundays and the fellowship that comes with it. As a teenager my family went through significant changes and I was at a loss for how to cope and felt alone as I carried it close, worried about sharing with my friends. However, everything changed when I learned about Young Life from my mother and attended Young Life summer camp. I went to camp and have been volunteering ever since. Through Young Life, I have found peace in God’s plan for my life.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying journalism and mass communication at a local university. My vision and hope for my education is to learn more about using my communication and technology skills in a management role. I want to learn how to work more efficiently with others and find ways to use my gifts of adaptability and communications. I would like to ultimately manage a division of a company or a corporate creative team and continue volunteering with Young Life.
