My name is Subam, and I was born in a city in South Asia into a simple family. Raised by my parents, I also have a sister who is younger than me. From childhood my parents left me to be independent and make decisions on my own, however I often struggled with my relatives who visited often for extended stays. They treated me bitterly and always worked against me with my parents. This made me feel terrible and often compelled me to go other ways due to immense pressure. Eventually, my entire family came to Christ and gradually things started falling in place.
As I grew in my faith, I became involved in the worship team at my church. Older brothers in the church helped me to overcome adversities and became my support system. I especially learned humility and an attitude of service. Their selflessness in helping me hugely impacted me and helped me develop the attitude I have today as a Young Life leader.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I want to grow academically and earn a degree in education. This opportunity will help me learn to coach younger people as both a teacher and a counselor. My vision in life is to grow personally while helping others grow alongside me, physically, spiritually, and even financially. I see myself as a catalyst for young people to grow as leaders like me. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
