Vera

My name is Vera (not my real name - it has been changed for my safety). All my life I have lived only with my mother. I maintain an excellent relationship with my father even though my mom and dad live separately. I have wonderful parents; they always support me very much. I can honestly say that they are my closest friends. When I was eight years old my friend invited me to the church youth group; I attended occasionally until my attention was captured by school life and friends, and for some time I stopped going to church all together. Eventually, I realized that my life was not like the one I wanted to live. After these reflections, I realized that the people I most wanted to be around were the friends I had made in church. Through church, I connected to Young Life and started playing in a worship group and soon started a media ministry. I realized that I wanted to give my life to God, I repented, and from that moment my completely different life began. As a Developing Global Leader, I am actively involved in the planning of Young Life clubs, camps, meetings and trips. I run a media ministry, and the team’s Instagram. I want all my university friends to get closer to Jesus. Since childhood, I have dreamed of becoming a doctor and now I am fulfilling my big dream by studying medicine at a local university. I am compelled to bring healing through the works of my hands as well as the words of life I can speak to my patients. I hope that through my work, more and more people will learn about God.
