Prabina
My name is Prabina and I live with my family in the capital city of a South Asian country. As a child I used to get sick a lot which often caused me to miss school. I was loved by my family, but I faced extremely low self-esteem. I struggled with my physical appearance and felt a lack of confidence in front of people and this made me doubt myself. I feared that I did not fit in because I did not look or act like the other girls I encountered. Eventually, I learned to accept myself for who I am and realized I do not need their approval to love myself or know I am loved.
I was born into a Christian family, and we attended church together. People gave their testimony in the church about miracles, but I personally never encountered one and experienced doubt because of it. Being an inquisitive child, I used to have many questions regarding the existence of God, but one small event changed everything. When playing a rival basketball team in high school, I injured my ankle in warm-ups, preventing me from playing the first half. After losing the first half badly, I prayed and asked God to heal me enough to return to play. I convinced my coach to let me play despite my injury. I had my best game ever and with good teamwork, we won the game. This little miracle that God performed in my life that day made big impact in my faith and ever since then, prayer has been my greatest weapon.
Many teenagers do not know Jesus. My vision as a Developing Global Leader is to guide them towards the path where they can know more about Jesus and to help them get close to him. Regarding my education, I hope to become a lawyer after completing my studies at a local university. I hope to use my degree to help others be better informed about their rights and to stand up against injustice in society.
