My name is Christian. I grew up in Nigerian military barracks because my father served in the military. My parents were very strict and did not allow much time for entertainment, but some of my greatest joys are singing, dancing and football. I did not want to go to church as a child because I did not find it entertaining. I faced many harsh consequences for allowing too much time for my passions. I did not know the goodness of God in my life until we moved to Lagos and I become involved in Young Life. Although I grew up hearing about Jesus in my childhood church, during Young Life club the Bible started to come alive. It was during that time that the things of God became entertaining and my interests in singing and dancing and playing football were useful in ministry with Young Life. I feel I am making an impact in society while serving Young Life. As a Developing Global Leader, I hope to use the knowledge acquired from studying mass communication at the University of Lagos to be able to grow in my understanding of people and learn how to better relate to them. I believe that I can use my education to impact more lives in Young Life and my community. I will be the first in my family to attend university.
