Purevsuren
Purevsuren, who goes by Puujee for short, is a steadfast and trustworthy young woman from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. One of three children, Purevsuren spent most of her childhood helping raise her siblings. Her sister was deaf from birth and Puujee quickly learned sign language and was the only one who truly learned to communicate with her sister. The lack of communication within her home was a challenge, especially for her parents, and their response to it brought a great deal of sadness and hardship to her family.
Puujee attended church periodically as a child and was impacted by the kindness of the people she met. However, in high school, she went to Young Life camp where everything started to change. Puujee shares, “At camp, I felt heard for the first time. My Young Life leaders saw me and heard me; I was desperate to be listened to.” Where Puujee once felt lonely even while surrounded by her friends, knowing Christ has filled her with confidence and assurance that she is never alone.
Now a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, Purevsuren is studying engineering and computer science with an emphasis in power plant mechanics at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology. She loves math and hopes this profession will open doors for employment and opportunities to help support her family. Puujee has a heart of compassion for the deaf and special needs community and hopes to use her gifting to serve in Capernaum, sharing the unconditional love of Jesus to those desperate to hear.
