HI I’m Deepak and I live with my mother, father, brother, and sister-in-law in a city in the central part of South Asian country. My childhood was challenged and troubled because I grew up in poor, migrant family. My parents earned money by doing labor work and we rented a small one-room house where all five of my family lived. We lacked proper necessities like food, clothing, and basic facilities. Tragically, my older brothers’ leg was fractured and the physical and financial burden this brought a heavy weight on my family.
In 2007, the pastor at my church prayed for the healing of my brother’s leg. Through a miracle, the bones got into the right position and because of this wonderous event, my whole family came into faith. At age sixteen, my life was filled with many bad habits, and I was in the wrong circle of friends. My parents began praying for me and my life started changing. I began my personal journey with Christ as Savior and stopped all the bad habits. I got connected with Young Life when my YL leader invited me to club. I loved it so much! The fellowship and atmosphere of club helped me to be joyful and to work for the Lord. Soon, I joined YL as a volunteer to reach youth for Christ in my area.
With the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, my dream is to complete my bachelor of commerce degree followed by a master’s degree in business. I want to become a charter accountant while sharing the gospel among teenagers through love and friendship. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
