Hi, I’m Rebecca. I lost my father at an early age; I don't even remember his face. My mom remarried, adding a step-father, three step-sisters and one step-brother to my family. We all love each other a lot. Then my mom also passed away and I grew up with my step-father and his family. My parents are farmers with many financial struggles. From age twenty, I had to work to support my siblings to afford their education. The Lord helped me to support my family, and now I am grateful and happy to see my three sisters married and my younger brother continuing his education. Now I am excited that I have time to study and pursue my own educational goals.
I grew up in a Catholic family and later resided for some years in a Christian hostel. In the hostel through my mentors, I came to know more deeply about Jesus. At age fourteen, I received Him into my life as my personal Savior. I got connected to Young Life through my childhood friend who is a volunteer leader with Young Life, and through her, I came to see and be drawn to the way Young Life impacts the lives of teenagers with the love of God.
My vision is to serve my community and be more effective in ministry, especially with teenage girls and the needy. I am pursuing a social work degree at a local university. With the help of a Developing Global Leader scholarship, I will be the first in my family to graduate from college. In the future I hope to impact my community in my best possible way for good; I want to do all this from the overflow of my life which is the result of abiding in God.
