Lukas (name changed for safety) is a clever, committed man who lives with his father, who is an occupational therapist and mother, who is a teacher. Lukas describes his childhood as “normal” with one of his greatest challenges being overcoming his shyness as a kid.

Lukas grew up in a Christian family and describes his journey with Jesus beginning “in 4th grade at summer camp with school and from that point forward, I changed a lot to become a better man.” After his influential time at camp, he grew more confident interacting with people and learned how to overcome his shyness. His Young Life leaders describe him as “one of the most committed and consistent Young Life volunteers. He is great at pulling a team together...planning and coordinating clubs, as well as serving at camp.”

Lukas took a few "gap years" between high school and university and worked long days and hours for a department similar to the national department of transportation, working on roads. Throughout it all, Lukas maintained his commitment to Young Life. It was during this experience, coupled with his passion for “building things from zero”, that he discovered his path for studies. Lukas is studying civil engineering at a local university. His future vision includes “finishing my degree, starting a building company and seeing Young Life grow.”
