Phasha

Phasha grew up looking after his father's goats, cleaning the yard and weeding fields with his three siblings. He lives with his family in Manzini, in the semi-urban area of Mbekelweni in Eswatini. He encountered discrimination at school because he stood out due to his poverty. Phasha grew up painfully aware that his parents could not afford to buy him what he would love to have or sometime even provide basic needs such as shoes for school. From that experience, he learned to hustle and piece together jobs to help support his family, instilling a strong work ethic that drives his every action today.

Phasha attended chapel every Wednesday in school where a guest pastor preach God's word to the students. One time in high school, a pastor gave a testimony about his former life that was full of drug ruins until he discovered the grace of God. On that day, Phasha surrendered his life to Christ. This helped him overcome his own addiction to alcohol and connected him with believers who helped him lay aside the habit and walk with God. Later, Phasha became involved with Young Life and was exposed to the heart of the ministry and felt compelled to become a leader and walk with teenagers in his community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Phasha is studying theology and ministry at the Eswatini College of Theology which he hopes will equip him to effectively teach God’s word. “His career goal is to have an impact on the world and use his given leadership opportunities to lead people down any corridor of their life with God's influence.” Phasha will be the first in his family to graduate from university.
