Cresilda

Cresilda, who usually goes by Cres, grew up in the eastern islands of the Philippines in the small town of Palompon. From a family of very limited means, she lives with her parents and sister in a squatters’ village. Her father is a fisherman and her mother is a housemaid. Cres describes her early childhood as happy, fun, and exciting, because her parents were very loving and supportive. However, when her parents decided to separate she had to learn how to stand on her own and become an independent person. She met Jesus at Young Life camp in 2015, which helped her overcome the sadness she felt over her broken home life. While at camp, Cres says, “I learned that Jesus loves me unconditionally and is always there to forgive me despite my mistakes. He is now my best friend and I can always depend on Him.”

Cres volunteered with Young Life for three years before being accepted into the Developing Global Leaders program. Now, as a DGL student, she is studying English education with the dream of becoming a public school teacher and staff for Young Life. She wants to be a part of bringing peace and order to her country by sharing Christ with youth in her community and being a good role model for them. She will be the first in her family to graduate university.
