Kechlor "Kech"

It is estimated that 50% of all Haitians work in the agricultural sector. This is a reality that Kechlor (who prefers to go by Kech) knows well. Growing up in a household where both parents work as farmers, the family struggled constantly to have enough money for the day to day necessities of life. Despite this struggle, Kech says that his parents always did their best and that “God always made a way for me.”

Following in his parents footsteps, Kech developed a strong faith in God at a young age and has always had a desire to pursue a degree in agronomy. Studying the science and technology of producing and using plants for food, fuel and land reclamation is a passion that Kech hopes will allow him to “help people in my hometown learn to use modern instruments to better work the land.” Having served as a leader in Young Life since 2011, Kech is excited for the opportunity to begin attending Episcopal University (UNEPH), as student in the DGL program. He believes that by using his degree, he will be able to both “help young people and my country.” He is the first person in his family to go to college.
